Today, let’s walk through the complete process from inquiry to production, so overseas buyers know what to expect.

Stage 1: Inquiry and Requirement Confirmation – First, Clarify “What You Want”

Time: 1 to 5 working days

It all starts with an inquiry. Overseas customers contact Hongkai via email, WhatsApp, or the website. The first sentence is usually: “I need a cable production line. Please quote.”

But quoting directly is irresponsible. Because the configuration of an optical fiber cable production line depends on three things:

1. What type of cable will you make? Loose-tube outdoor cable, FTTH butterfly drop cable, or indoor cable? This determines which combination you need: fiber coloring machine, secondary coating line for optical fiber, SZ stranding line, or fiber optic cable sheathing line.

Stage 2: Proposal Confirmation and Contract Signing – Put the Details in Writing

Time: 1 to 2 weeks

After the proposal is confirmed, the contract negotiation stage begins. Hongkai confirms with the customer, item by item:

• Equipment configuration list: Models, quantities, and core component brands for the entire fiber optic cable making machine series

• Factory inspection standards: SZ stranding line pay-off tension fluctuation ≤ ±0.5 N, fiber optic cable sheathing line concentricity ≥ 98% – written into the contract, so customers can re-measure after receiving the equipment

• Delivery lead time: Complete line from contract to factory release in 45 to 60 days

• Installation and commissioning: Engineers on-site – 12 to 18 days from unpacking to producing the first qualified reel

Stage 3: Equipment Manufacturing and Factory Inspection – Let the Data Speak

Time: 45 to 60 days

During the manufacturing stage, multiple machines are being machined and assembled simultaneously in Hongkai’s workshop. The fiber coloring machine assembly line, the SZ stranding line differential gearbox assembly, the fiber optic cable sheathing line extruder commissioning – each unit is manufactured in parallel to shorten the final assembly cycle.

Before leaving the factory, every machine undergoes load testing – feeding actual tubes and sheath material, simulating real production conditions. The data collected is recorded in the factory test report:

• Fiber coloring machine: Pay-off tension accuracy ±0.05 N

• Secondary coating line for optical fiber / loose tube line: Excess length control accuracy ±0.2‰

• SZ stranding line: Pay-off tension fluctuation ≤ ±0.4 N, stranding pitch deviation ≤ ±0.08 mm

• Fiber optic cable sheathing line: Concentricity ≥ 98.6%, wall thickness tolerance ≤ 0.04 mm

• FTTH optical cable manufacturing machine and indoor optical fiber production line also come with measured data

Stage 4: Packaging, Shipping, and Customs Clearance – Equipment Arrives Safely at Port

Time: 7 to 40 days by sea (depending on destination)

After manufacturing is complete, the packaging and shipping stage begins. The main unit of the SZ stranding line is packed in a framed wooden crate, wrapped internally with moisture-proof film. The extruder, cooling trough, and capstan of the fiber optic cable sheathing line are packed in separate crates. The fiber coloring machine and secondary coating line for optical fiber are packed whole in wooden crates.

Desiccant is placed inside electrical cabinets, and cabinet doors are sealed with moisture-proof film. Machined metal surfaces are coated with anti-rust oil and wrapped in VCI anti-rust bags. Precision sensors are individually packaged with desiccant inside.

Hongkai supports various trade terms including FOB, CIF, and EXW, flexibly selected according to customer needs. Equipment departs from Guangzhou Nansha Port or Shenzhen Yantian Port. Shipping times: Southeast Asia 7–15 days, Middle East 20–30 days, Africa 25–40 days, Europe 30–40 days, North America 20–30 days.

Stage 5: Installation, Commissioning, and Training – Production in 12 to 18 Days

Time: 12 to 18 days

After the equipment arrives at port, the customer clears customs and transports it to the factory. Hongkai engineers arrive on-site at the same time and begin installation and commissioning:

Step 1: Unpacking inspection. Verify against the packing list and check for transport damage.

Step 2: Mechanical installation. According to layout drawings, determine the position of each unit. The extruder, cooling trough, capstan, and take-up of the fiber optic cable sheathing line must be on the same centerline, with deviation not exceeding 2 mm.

Step 3: Electrical wiring. Check wire by wire against the electrical schematic. Every wire has a number label.

Step 4: Dry commissioning. Each unit runs individually with power on – check the pay-off stand, dancer, stranding unit, and take-up.

Step 5: Load commissioning. Feed tubes and sheath material for real production. The pay-off tension fluctuation of the SZ stranding line is controlled within ±0.5 N, and the concentricity of the fiber optic cable sheathing line reaches 98% or above.

Step 6: Linked commissioning. The entire fiber optic cable production line runs in series – fiber coloring machine → secondary coating line for optical fiber → loose tube line → SZ stranding line → fiber optic cable sheathing line – with speed matching and signal communication between units.

Step 7: Operator training. Hongkai engineers train the customer’s operators, electricians, and mechanics. Operational level (startup, changeover, parameter adjustment), maintenance level (common troubleshooting, spare part replacement), and data level (data export, MES integration).

Step 8: Acceptance sign-off. The customer measures with instruments: pay-off tension fluctuation, stranding pitch deviation, sheath concentricity. Compare against the factory test report – if the data matches, sign off on acceptance.

Before the engineers leave, ensure operators can independently complete a changeover. Training for the FTTH optical cable manufacturing machine and indoor optical fiber production line follows the same standard.
